Research Analyst

Yu joined MDRC’s Low-Wage Workers and Communities policy group in 2016. She performs research and analysis for several projects: the Rent Reform Demonstration, which alters the rules of the Housing Choice Voucher Program to allow working voucher holders to retain more of their earnings; the New Communities Program, a quantitative and qualitative study of how community groups in Chicago collaborate; and Opportunity NYC, a test of conditional cash transfers in New York City. Before joining MDRC, Yu worked in digital media in a variety of roles, from editor and content strategist at Food & Wine magazine to designer and front-end developer for nonprofits and start-ups, including Just Jared. Yu holds a master’s degree in public administration and a bachelor’s degree in English literature and computer science from Columbia University.
